About
Hi, I'm Rakesh — a software engineer at Microsoft, where I work in Data Security & Privacy team of Microsoft Purview. This is where I share what I build, what I learn, and the occasional rabbit hole worth exploring.
Why software?
I like that software is one of the few crafts where you can have an idea in the morning and be using it by the evening. The feedback loop is addictive, and there is always another layer to understand underneath.
Why security?
It started as curiosity and turned into a habit of asking "how would someone break this?" about everything I build. Thinking like an attacker has made me a better engineer.
What do I enjoy outside work?
Reading, playing (and regularly losing at) chess, and breaking things on TryHackMe. A lot of what ends up on this site comes from those rabbit holes.
What am I learning right now?
I'm currently diving deeper into distributed systems, application security, and the Java ecosystem. My now page always has the current list.
